2013, Jonathan’s year of consolidation – Abati

by Isi Esene

Reuben Abati, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity has described 2013 as the year of consolidation.

He said next year will be the year to consolidate on the achievements made by the Goodluck Jonathan administration in critical sectors like power, agriculture, aviation, transport, integrity of election, among others.

Abati who was speaking on Channels Television breakfast interview programme, Sunrise, also pointed out that the present administration has demonstrated enough commitment to tackle corruption in the country.

To support his statement, Abati reportedly said corruption in agriculture, petroleum, pension management have been exposed through the e-wallet in the distribution of fertilizers and seeds, the uncovering of pension fraud, and prosecution of those indicted.

He said the government is doing everything it can to make sure that all those found guilty of corruption are punished accordingly.

“If people are getting away with impunity, then there will be chaos,” Abati stated.

He spoke on the expectations for 2013 saying, “what this government has achieved in power, agriculture, aviation, transport, roads, integrity of election, it will build on them. 2013 will be a year of consolidation.

“Mr. President is only pleading for support from Nigerians and for them to be aware of forces whose job is to malign the government and rubbish achievements recorded. He is only urging them to separate facts from falsehood.”
