Have our car’s wheel alignment checked every (48,000km) or as specified in the owner’s manual. Also have it checked after buying new tires. Improper tire alignment will shorten the life of the tires and cause poor handling. Also check your brake fluid at least, monthly.

So you have gotten your dream car from a reputable dealer in Lagos, you inspected the car with your mechanic, you were satisfied and you paid for it. It’s all your now and gradually, you have started getting used to the feeling that comes with driving an automobile. Here, we outline three tips to keep your car in top shape as we head into the second quarter of the year, so you can enjoy it and have it for use for a very long time.

1.       Petrol:

Always buy your petrol from a reputable petrol station. Make sure the petrol station have pump filters and if they have a policy of changing them regularly. This is very important. Also make sure you never buy petrol when the tanker is filling the tanks – if you need to buy at that moment, visit another petrol station. As tankers fill the underground tanks, the turbulence can stir up sediment. Sediment in your petrol can clog fuel filters and fuel injectors which would cause poor performance and necessitate you visiting a mechanic.

2.      Clean and Vacuum the Inside:

Vacuum your interior every time you take it for a car wash. Dirty particles and spilled liquids are corrosive. Use a soft damp cloth to lightly wipe dust from the clear plastic lenses on your dashboard. Be careful not to apply too much pressure here. Clean the car’s weather-stripping also. As regular cleaning and treatment of it will lessen the likelihood of the door sticking to its rubber seal during raining seasons, a common cause of damage to the rubber.

3.      Wheel alignment and brake fluids:

Have our car’s wheel alignment checked every (48,000km) or as specified in the owner’s manual. Also have it checked after buying new tires. Improper tire alignment will shorten the life of the tires and cause poor handling. Also check your brake fluid at least, monthly. If you need brake fluids, only use the type recommended by the manufacturer. Don’t buy or use brake fluids from a previously opened container. Brake fluids absorb moisture when exposed to air and contaminates easily.
