7 ways to lose weight this weekend

On the weekends when you have more time, you can exercise longer at the gym, try new workout classes, relax in the sauna and burn more calories working out! Weekend time is workout time so you can reach your goals!

Are you ready to lose weight this weekend? You are so busy during the week that is hard to find time to exercise for an extended period. So should you throw in the towel and settle for a life as a couch potato? Absolutely not! You can find time for fitness. The weekend is the best time to get in longer fitness sessions, burn more calories and focus on bettering your health. So what are you doing to lose weight this weekend?

1. LONGER RUN

Why not go for a longer run to lose weight this weekend? You have more time to exercise so head outdoors for your longest run of the week on the weekends. I enjoy my weekend runs because I do not have to worry about being on a time constraint and I can just enjoy my workout. If you do your long run on the weekends you will burn more calories and feel great!

2. FITNESS CHALLENGE

Why not hike the nearby mountain, swim laps at the pool and then go for a 20 mile bike ride? A little extreme? I know, but the weekend is a great time to challenge yourself and use your extra time as fitness time so that you can lose weight and get in the best shape. Even weekend warriors can get in shape if they push themselves and work hard!

3. RUNNING RACE

With free time over the weekend why not register for a running race? This is a great way to burn some extra calories and meet new people. Better yet, why not invite some of your friends to join in on the fitness fun! In warmer weather I anticipate the weekend to run a race! This is a great way to stay in shape and lose weight over the weekends!

4. LONGER GYM TIME

On the weekends when you have more time, you can exercise longer at the gym, try new workout classes, relax in the sauna and burn more calories working out! Weekend time is workout time so you can reach your goals!

5. DETOX SHAKES

Now that you have some extra time, why not make some shakes to detoxify your body and help you to lose weight. I prefer Kale or even a beet detox drink. This is also a good time for you to make some shakes for the week. It is preferable to drink these shakes fresh but if you are limited on time during the week, you can make several shakes over the weekend and store them in an air tight container.

6. PEDOMETER CHALLENGE

How many steps do you take a day? If you sit at an office job, there is a good chance it is not that many. To better your health and lose weight, you should make a goal of 10,000 steps during the week days and 15,000 per day at a minimum on the weekends. Wearing a pedometer is a great way to challenge yourself to getting more activity each day, and especially on the weekends!

7. GET MORE SLEEP

Since your body secretes more of the hormone cortisol, if you are lacking sleep and this will result in weight gain, get to bed. Extra shut eye will have you feeling more alert during the day and provide more energy for your workouts. Use weekend time to sleep in and catch up on some extra sleep!
