Yinka Oyeniran, has been indicted by police in the case as according to them, he was a professional car snatcher and was responsible for the theft of the car found in the church.

According to reports, Oyeniran allegedly led three others on September 10, 2013 to a Christian centre around the Kute Wofun area of Ibadan, where the car with plate number Lagos, LSR 292 AT was snatched. They also took the victim’s phone, jewellery and N120,000.

The car was later demobilized but Oyeniran was said to have pushed it to a church in Akinlalu junction, Gbongan. He was said to have told the pastor of the church that he brought the vehicle for blessing.

It was learnt that Osun and Oyo states police command laid an ambush for Oyeniran. When he returned to take his loot, he was arrested.

Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Ilobanafo, said an unregistered Honda motorcycle, a Nissan Sunny car with plate number Osun, AP 406 SGB, and a rectum cable wire were also recovered from the suspect.
