“Dudes against distracted drivers”: Man arrested 3 times in one day for walking in the middle of the road

The arrested the same man in one day because he was a danger to the public. His grave crime was that he walked on the road.

A Haverhill man apparently has no problem getting arrested. It happened to him three times on the same day last weekend.

Police in Windham and Salem, New Hampshire had been receiving complaints the last couple of weeks about a 45 year old man, Amaysa Selcuk.

“He has a habit of jogging in the middle of the road, basically running along the yellow line on some of the roads in Windham,” said Windham police Capt. Mike Caron to the news media.

Despite several previous warnings, police said Selcuk was again walking on the road. He was arrested by an officer at 10:00 am for disorderly conduct.

But an hour later he was back walking on the road, and Selcuk was arrested a second time. He told police he was a member of a group called Dadd.

“When the officer asked him what that group was all about, he told the officer that it was Dudes against distracted drivers,” said Caron, who added that no such group exists.

“As funny as it is, it is a dangerous situation. Anyone who is going to cause an accident or you will be hit by a motor vehicle needs to be taken off the street, so you certainly do not want to continue with this type of behavior,” said Caron. About ten hours later was arrested for reckless driving in Salem.

According to the news media, he fought with a police officer after a traffic stop and ended up being zapped with a Taser gun.
