One of the most enjoyable things about being a female is shopping for make-up, just ask Kelly Rowland.

The Destiny’s Child star was seen browsing the aisles at Ricky’s, a popular beauty store in New York, on Tuesday.

The 32-year old was working a low key look, with a grey beanie hat covering her hair, and just a slick of lip gloss on her otherwise bare face.

Kelly smiled for the cameras as she left the shop holding a carrier bag full of her latest finds.

Dressed in a white T-shirt, black jeans and  pair of trainers, the only hint of her superstar status was the Louis Vuitton wallet she carried in one hand as she dashed out the shop to a waiting car.

Her huge diamond stud earrings were also a bit of a giveaway, and they sparkled beneath the shop’s strip lighting.

The laidback look will surprise fans who are used to seeing the Atlanta-born singer looking nothing short of perfect with designer clothes and luxurious accessories.

Kelly was in New York as she was booked to perform at the Elle Women In Music Celebration, an annual event that honours women in rock.

As well as mingling with other guests, she performed at the event in front of a celebrity audience and certainly seemed to enjoy herself.

The Commander singer looked casual in a pair of leather trousers and a white top with pink diamanté necklace and black and silver sandals.

She also sported a wrist full of sparkly pink bracelets and a chunky ring to match, but most noticeably was wearing a full face of make-up – perhaps using some products she had picked up at Ricky’s earlier that day.

One person who thoroughly enjoyed Kelly’s performance was Rita Ora, who was another star guest.

This year, the Hot Right Now singer, Adele and Alicia Keys grace three separate covers of the glossy for the May 2013 special issue.

Rita tweeted: ‘Roc’in out to Kelly!’ alongside a snapshot of herself in the audience. ‘Thank you for having me elleusa,’ she posted later.

Rita had been photographed posing with the Destiny’s Child star and singer Martha Wainwright earlier in the evening.
