FG to create 1.8m jobs annually, says Minister – Vanguard

The Minister of Trade and Investment, Mr Olusegun Aganga, said in Lagos on Thursday that the Federal Government would generate at least 1.8 million jobs annually to tackle unemployment.

Aganga said this at the inauguration of a printing press owned by Dr Doyin Abiola, wife of the late Chief MKO Abiola.

 Fayose says he will run an all-inclusive government – Vanguard

Ekiti state’s governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose, has pledged to run an all-inclusive government in order to move the state forward.

Speaking at a Forum in Abuja, Thursday, Mr.Fayose said that good governance would be better achieved when the state administration is broad-based.

Court stops Adamawa Assembly from impeaching Nyako – Premium Times

A High Court sitting in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, has barred the state House of Assembly from serving impeachment notice on Governor Murtala Nyako.

The court presided by the acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ambrose Mamadi, also stopped the legislators from proceeding with the impeachment process against Mr. Nyako.

In another ruling on a matter brought by the All Progressives Congress, the Adamawa High Court restrained all defected members of the party from participating in the activities of the House. Read more…

Governor Okorocha urged to stop discriminatory identity card project for northerners in Imo – Sahara Reporters

The All Progressives Congress (APC) South East has called on Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha to rescind what it called the “unconstitutional and undemocratic” plan to issue identity cards to Northerners in the state.

In a statement by Osita Okechukwu, spokesman for APC South East Zone, it said while it condemned the devilish and heinous atrocities of the Boko Haram elements, it believed that they are not executing a Northern script, describing their agenda opaque and futile. Read more…

Eagles depart for Brasilia on Friday ahead France tie – Vanguard

The national team, Super Eagles, will travel out of their camp in Campinas on Friday evening to Brasilia for their Monday round of 16 tie against France.

A statement issued from Brazil on Thursday by Ben Alaiya, the Super Eagles Media Officer, said all logistics had been perfected for the trip by FIFA in conjunction with the team.

It said that the injured midfielder, Babatunde Michael, had undergone a successful surgery on his fractured wrist and returned to camp, ahead of the trip to Brasilia. Read more…

Jonathan leaves Equatorial Guinea, to arrive Nigeria soon – Premium Times

Reports confirms that after attending the opening ceremony and one session of the ongoing African Union, A.U., summit in Equatorial Guinea, President Goodluck Jonathan has begun his return journey home following a car bomb that killed at least 21 people in Abuja Wednesday.

The president left his hotel at about 6 p.m. Nigerian time and arrived the Malabo airport at about 6:40. Boarding formalities commenced immediately, with the delegation flying out of the airport at about 7 p.m for the about one hour flight to Abuja.

Mr. Jonathan’s plane is expected to touch down in the Nigerian capital at about 8 p.m.
