The Cross River state governor, Liyel Imoke, who has been out of the country for weeks to treat an undisclosed ailment is back in Nigeria.

His arrival from the United States was announced by the former minister of information, John Odey, who also disclosed that the governor is being expected in Calabar, the Cross River state capital on Saturday.

According to Odey: “I can confirm that the governor has returned. We are all here waiting to receive him. We have been in touch with him while he was undergoing treatment. But we are more than excited to have him back.”

The Peoples Democratic Party National Secretary, Olisah Metuh, had in January spoken about the remarkable recovery the governor was making and gave indications that Imoke would soon return to the country.

Metuh reportedly said, “We have just received news of the remarkable recovery of the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Liyel Imoke and we are very happy. We expect that he will be back to his office very soon to continue the good works he has been doing in his state.”
