Paris-based Nigerian soul singer, Bukola Elemide aka Asa has joined the enviable league of celebrities with verified status on the popular social network, Twitter.

It is not clear when the account was verified but Twitter users began to notice the blue ‘good-tick’ badge, symbol of verification on her profile this morning.

Asa is not the first Nigerian celebrity to achieve this status as Nigerian Footballer; Osaze Odemwingie has also earned the verified badge. Nneka is also verified.

Twitter gives verified status to active and well known accounts, in order to differentiate them from parody accounts and spam users. Recently, it closed the request page for verification, from the public.
