#InCaseYouMissedIt: Military aircraft are not supervised by us – Stella Oduah

The Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah Sunday described the crash that killed the Kaduna State Governor and General Azazi alongside four others as unfortunate and regrettable.

The Minister wrote on her Twitter page  “yesterday’s copter crash was very unfortunate and regrettable but please take note that Military aircrafts are not supervised nor subject to the oversight of civil aviation authorities under the Ministry of Aviation. Thank you”.

Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State and Former National Security Adviser, General Andrew Owoye Azazi died in a helicopter that crashed Saturday in Bayelsa State.

Governor Yakowa and Mr. Azazi, a retired military general who served as Chief security adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, were among passengers in the ill-fated helicopter.

The crash occurred in a swampy location near Okoroba community in Nembe local government area of the state.

Many top politicians had besieged the state to attend the funeral of the father of Oronto Douglas in Nembe.

Meanwhile President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered a full-scale investigation, Saturday evening, into the crash of the naval helicopter.
