Jenim Dibie: Without a care in the world (30 Days, 30 Voices)

Without a care

“Somewhere on the street of ‘I’m only human’,
I found Dominic sitting on a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g Dora.”

Somewhere on the beach, the east of nowhere
I gathered the sands over my tiny feet
And built a castle for my doll to stay.
Somewhere on my mother’s front lawn
I rolled and played and made a pot of green soup;
made of green herbs for Sara to eat.

Somewhere in the back of mum’s Corolla
Jason and I sang along to Kenny Rogers;
we laughed aloud at the Coward of the County.
Somewhere in the recess of my little brain
I couldn’t wait to grab the steering wheel
And be in the driver’s seat of my small life.

Somewhere on the road from 10 to 20
I met someone, his name is Dominic.
He was fine as fine could be and sang with perfect lyrics;
the age old song of “if you loved me you’d…”
Somewhere in the sea of feelings, right there where butterflies swim, I gave the only me I had
My heart, my heart, my heart, my all.

Somewhere on the street of ‘I’m only human’,
I found Dominic sitting on a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g Dora.
Somewhere in the south of heart graves, I lost cardiac function.
After repeated ‘knifely’ visits that could only hurt that much;
when your friendly friend and your loving lover – in tow, pay the visit.

Somewhere below the starstruck rainbow of a deep blue sky,
right there in the field of I don’t care, I met indifference and we’d be friends;
friends till the end.
