Jonathan reveals why he cannot celebrate Nigeria becoming the largest economy
President Goodluck Jonathan has said there will be no celebration of any kind over the recent feat of Nigeria as the largest economy in Africa and 26th in the world.
Jonathan said, although, the latest development calls for celebration but he will not roll out the drums because “too many of our citizens (are) living in poverty”. Read more…..
MEND says kidnap of E.K. Clark’s son was ‘fake’
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) today declared that last week’s kidnap of Ebikeme Clark, the son of Chief E.K Clark, was masterminded by no other person than the victim.
The Delta state government had paid a ransom fee of N 500 million to Ebikeme’s abductors from its security vote for his release, which MEND says was shared among everyone involved in this scam. Read more….
FG scraps NAPEP, FRC
The Federal Government Monday accepted the recommendations by the former Head of Civil Service, Steve Oronsaye for the scrapping of the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) and the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC).
This was contained in the White Paper on the Report of the Presidential Committee on Restructuring and Rationalization of Federal Government Parastatals, Commissions and Agencies submitted by the Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke to President Goodluck Jonathan. Read more….
Osun seals Oduduwa varsity over unpaid tax
The Osun Internal Revenue Service on Monday sealed off Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, over non-remittance of N173 million income tax.
Mr Femi Balogun, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Revenue, who led the team to the university said this in a statement in Osogbo.
Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, is a private tertiary institution located in Ife North area of the state. Read more…..

A teacher in Ekiti State has emerged as the best Nigerian Secondary School Teacher while the Second Best Primary School awards 2013 edition of President’s Teachers Schools award equally came to the state
