Lend-a-Hand: Help save George

At the University of Ibadan, George Chimezirim Egbuchulam was one of the finest brains the Department of English has produced in his recent times. Those who know him can attest to his brilliance.

Like everyone else George has hope, dreams, and aspirations, but those ideals is being threatened by a kidney disease which makes it absolutely necessary for him to have a transplant.

About N2 million has been raised so far. The cost of dialysis 3 or 4 times a week comes to a little under N80,000 per week. So even the amount already raised is being spent on payment for dialysis and any other pre-operation expenses (including those of the donor).

Though, George‘s brother is ready to be the kidney donor, doctors are yet to confirm their medical compatibility to prevent unwanted complications. George is O+ which might make it a challenge for his brother to be a perfect match.

The operation is tentatively set for September, 2012. So the amount already raised could dwindle owing to pre-operation procedures. Post-operation expenses for both the donor and himself could be more than N3 million.

In total, to save George‘s life, we are trying to raise an additional N7 million.

We urge you to step into the bank today and contribute your widow’s mite. No effort, or donation is either too small or too large to save the life of a bright Nigerian young man.

The time to express our common humanity is NOW!
