Panic as police recover explosive device from bank in Osun

There was panic in Osogbo, the Osun State capital today when police discovered an explosive device at the premises of an old generation bank.

Reports  say the suspicious package was discovered by a security agent who quickly informed the bank manager. The bank was said to have been quickly evacuated with other businesses in the metropolis following suit.

In a rare show of efficiency, the Anti-Bomb Squad of the police command in the state was at the scene to swiftly recover the Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The police in the city were also placed on high alert to prevent any escalation of violence as the individuals behind the attempted attack are yet unknown.

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ibrahim Maishanu, confirmed the development.

While reacting to news of the discovery, Maishanu said the police are still investigating the matter assuring the citizens of sustained peace.

The bank has been cordoned off to customers for further investigation.
