PHOTOS: Abuja Carnival through my lens

This year, it had 12 states in attendance unlike the usual 36 states…

The Abuja carnival kicked off with 90 percent of its residents unaware of it, but no matter. It officially started on the 24th of November 2012 five hours late with the usual colourful parade through the streets of Area one all the way to the Eagle square.

This year, it had 12 states in attendance unlike the usual 36 states with about six visiting countries of which I saw only their flags which was being carried around by our fellow countrymen.

This year’s carnival had the usual, cultural displays of dance, masquerades and food. Other programs included the boat regatta, the durbar, polo tournament and musical concert, just to mention a few. Despite the shoddy preparation, one couldn’t help but appreciate the beauty and diversity of our cultures; it makes you proud to be Nigerian.

Enough talk, let my pictures below do the rest of the talking.
