Fourteen suspected criminals including two students of Federal Polytechnic, Offa, have been arrested by the Kwara state police command for armed robbery and cultism.

The Police Commissioner Ambrose Aisabor who disclosed this, said the motorcycle  snatchers were caught with a cut-to-size gun, one live cartridge and one motorcycle while the cable vandals came to the state from Lagos to vandalize the telecom facilities.

The police boss said the command’s surveillance team in conjunction with a team of vigilantes led by one Ganiyu Oladipo, while on an intelligence patrol, caught the suspects in the act of stealing the cables estimated at N2 million.

He added that the suspects confessed to the crime, saying they committed the act in collaboration with a fake police officer, “who co-ordinated the stealing and collection of returns from the suspects”.

The commissioner, who said the suspects revealed that they started the business several months ago, added that they would soon be charged to court.
