There are unconfirmed reports that doctors attending to the First Lady, Patience Jonathan have refused to allow her accompany President Goodluck Jonathan on a planned trip to New York based on their assessment of her present health condition.

An online media platform recently quoted unidentified sources claiming  President Goodluck Jonathan planned on attending the United Nations General Assembly with his wife against doctors’ advice which is considered not favourable.

A source said, “The doctors in Germany have informed us that she cannot – and should not – go on a long trip at this time.”

“The plan was to take her on the trip to the United Nations in order to silence critics and reporters that revealed that Madam was not on vacation but in a precarious medical state,” said one of the sources.

It has been confirmed that the president will be accompanied on his New York trip by 11 ministers as well as the governors of Bauchi, Delta and Akwa Ibom. Mr. Jonathan and his delegation are expected to arrive in New York on Monday.

The Presidency has maintained that the Fist Lady is in good health but needed to observe some “moment’s rest” from her hectic schedule.
