According to reports making the rounds, unknown gunmen have killed Mallam Yunus Ustaz, the General Manager of New Democrat Newspapers in Kaduna State.

The journalist was reportedly shot dead by gunmen at his residence in Ungwan Dosa around 7:45pm on the night of Friday, July 11, 2014.

One of his staff at the New Democrat alleged that his death must have been politically motivated going by the nature of the operation.

He said, “We suspect a political undertone to his killing because the killers did not take anything from the house. They just stormed the house, killed him and disappeared.”

Meanwhile, the public relations officer of the police in Kaduna state, Aminu Lawal confirmed the murder while saying investigations had already commenced into the unfortunate incident.
