So you think you can sing? You could be the first Nigerian Idol!

Idols, an international music franchise has finally come to Nigeria. This weekend, the search for Nigeria’s next music superstar commences, as the crew of Nigerian Idols begin to hold auditions for the first season of the show. “The auditions will start with producers screening wanna-be singers on the first two days, and then the judges will fly in on the last day to audition those that passed the producer’s phase,” said Chichi Nwoko, Project Manager of the show.

The first stop for the crew is Enugu, where auditions will hold on the 9th of October. Afterwards, Idols auditions will hold in Abuja at the Nicon Luxury on October 15 and 16. The next stop is Calabar at the Cultural Centre on October 22 and 23, and finally in Lagos at D Box Studios Omole Phase 1. The judges of the brand new Nigerian Idols are Chocolate City CEO, Audu Maikori, American dancer and singer Jeffrey Daniel and the uber-talented somgstress, Yinka Davies.

100 lucky singers from the audition venues across the country will converge in Lagos with the Idols team. They will then be screened down to 50. At the end of the search, the winner of Idols will get a cash prize of 2.5 Million Naira and a record deal from an international record label. The host of the show, Misi will take TV viewers through, from auditions to the finale. Nigerian Idols is sponsored by Etisalat.
