We lost rare gems. We lost beautiful hearts. As we swim through this ocean of pains we won’t forget. That we were made to do big things
1. Battered and bruised
Our flesh sliced and bleeding
By blades of lies & insensitivity
Being held by leaders that ‘don’t give a damn’
Leaders saying we were not patient enough
After killing some of us in stampedes
Wounded & hurting we just won’t forget
That we were made to do big things
2. Though we study in darkness
All to become something before we pass away
So we don’t fail our seeds
As most of the earlier generations did
We know our dried bones will arise at the end
There will be a revolutionary stirring
Before that liberation we won’t forget
That we were made to do big things
3. The children we sent
To schools to go embrace knowledge
Encountered death’s cold embrace
As knives rested on their throats in sleep
We lost rare gems
We lost beautiful hearts
As we swim through this ocean of pains we won’t forget
That we were made to do big things
4. Subject us to queues in petrol stations
Beneath the sun’s scorching gaze
Cart away our $20 billion
Trampling the whistle blower beneath your feet
Just know we have a dogged spirit
We’ll fight as gladiators till the very end
We know we are kings and we won’t forget
That we were made to do big things
5. As Nigeria cries for change
As we scream for liberty
May we not give in
May we not give up
Rugged is the road to calvary
We’ll have to drink vinegar along the way
Focusing on our beautiful future may we never forget
That we were made to do big things
8. After the gruesome crucifixion
We’ll resurrect with a thunderous jeer
Nigeria will be shaken
By hands innocent ready to give all
Shackles of deceit will be thorn apart
Sound of bombs & tears will be muffled out
By our songs of victory as we shout
“We were made to do big things!”
