TICKER: “Due to irreconcilable differences” – Square Records drops May D

Square Records Ltd. and Northside Entertainment Ltd. have announced the dismissal of the only other artist on their label, May D.

A statement signed by Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye,  CEO, Northside Ent. Ltd/Square Records, announced “to the general public that Mr. Akinmayokun Awodumila, otherwise known as MAY D, is no longer an artiste under the aforementioned outfits due to irreconcilable differences.”

Okoye went further to state, “We at Northside and Square records wish him all the best in his career and life.”

May D was the first artiste to be officially signed to Square Records, the label owned by multiple award-winning singers, PSquare.

May D hit the airwaves with two hot singles titled ‘Cool Temper’ and ‘Sound Trak’.

Although there were reports that the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) banned May D’s video for ‘Soundtrack’ from receiving any airplay on Nigerian TV stations due to erotic scenes, the song still receives massive airplay from radio stations and became one of the most listened to songs on the internet.
