Statement pieces, iconic looks by Maki Oh (Review)

MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2011 –

MAKI OH

There was a grown up sensibility about Maki Oh’s clothes, and it was there from the first look out: an iconic long-sleeved semi-sheer organza dress with architectural piping. It had a subtle kind of elegance and glamour that only women of a certain caliber can pull off.

The collection also had a play on balance: a forest green velvet skirt, topped by an ivory colored shirt could carry a woman from the boardroom into evening; as well as a sense of daring, the long-sleeved mesh dress with strategically placed cut-outs of midnight velvet. One could easily imagine that on a powerful and daring woman such as Funmi Iyanda. Swoon!
