The people of Edo state have been dealt another cruel blow by kidnappers as a female primary school teacher and two children were on Monday abducted by gunmen.

This comes not long after the abduction of  human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, whose safety and release the people of the state are currently praying for.

The teacher, Mrs Queen Ogbodu, was kidnapped at gunpoint with the two children in Esan West Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, Mrs. Ogbodu, a staff of Ile Primary School and the children whose identities could not be ascertained, were allegedly abducted by their captors while returning from school.  When contacted, Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Moses Eguavoen who confirmed the incident, said full scale investigation had commenced.

Reacting, the Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the  National Union of Teachers (NUT), Patrick Ikosimi, described it as sad and expressed disbelief over the rising wave of kidnapping in the state.

“I received the information today (Tuesday) and it is very sad. Teachers are the least paid. In fact, the day a teacher receives his salary, that is when his trouble begins,” he said.
