A 59-year-old woman in the American state of Michigan has been charged with the murder of her son.

Donna Scrivois said to have killed 32-year-old Ramsay and chopped his body into several parts which she disposed of in garbage bags.

The motive behind the attack is still unknown.

NY Daily reports:

Scrivo will go before a judge on Monday after police nabbed her in connection with body parts that were disposed of last Thursday near Allington Rd. on the Fred Moore Highway in St. Clair Township, according to reports.

Remains of Ramsay Scrivo were found off the side of a highway last week, prompting an extensive police hunt. Officials identified the remains and connected it to Scrivo, then zeroed in on his mother.

“This certainly isn’t what we expected,” St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon told the Daily Tribune. “It was very unsettling to think a woman had dumped body parts on the road in the middle of the day. To me, that just screams panic, not real well thought out.”

Michigan police launched an extensive hunt on Thursday after witnesses spotted a “heavy-set” person throwing the bags from an SUV. Investigators linked the remains to the slain Scrivo son.

The bagged body parts were found scattered in four different locations. A fifth bag that housed clothing was found at a separate location, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Police found bags of human remains at the intersection of Allington Rd. and Fred Moore Highway in St. Clair Township. The discovery sparked a massive police search to identify the suspect who threw the parts from an unidentified SUV.

Investigators connected the remains to Scrivo, who worked for Allstate Insurance, according to his Facebook profile.

The mother had attempted to have her son hospitalized for mental illness several times and attempted to install a guardian, according to court records obtained by the Free Press.

Witnesses told police that a middle-aged white woman driving a late '90's gray or tan sport utility vehicle. They later linked it to Scrivo.

The petitions for hospitalization were dismissed and each time Scrivo was discharged.

Relatives and friends of the family were shocked over the details of the gruesome murder.

“We are grieving a terrible, terrible loss,” Carolynn Sloan, an aunt of Ramsay Scrivo, told the Daily Tribune.

The mother had been staying with her son after a fire ripped through her home nearby. The two appeared to have a perfectly normal relationship, friends said.

“I know that she loved her son,” next-door neighbor Doris Orden told the Daily Tribune. “She doted on him. I can’t imagine what could have happened between them.”
