In a selfless service to man,  a 9-year-old gave up his savings for one thing he wanted most – a PlayStation 4 console (PS4)-  to help others who he thought the money would be more wisely spent.

According to reports, the boy Hector Montoya committed an act of God-given kindness that a lot of pastors would not do, he inspired to make a small but remarkable difference in the lives of others.

Montoya donated his savings after he heard about a mother and child who had died in a fire in their home because they didn’t own a smoke detector to warn them.

All Christian News reports:

Montoya had been saving his money for a PS4 for almost one year, but when he heard that some people couldn’t afford to protect their lives with smoke detectors, he immediately changed his plans. Stating that one life lost is one life too many, he decided to defer his dreams of purchasing a PS4 and make a difference.

With the help of the Grand Prairie Fire Department, Hector purchased 100 smoke detectors and even helped the firemen install the devices correctly.

However, God must have been smiling down on this thoughtful young lad because he touched the heart of Ashton and Peyton Harder, two teenage siblings, who thought that Hector deserved to get the PS4. The kindhearted siblings and their mother travelled 45 minutes away to Hector’s hometown and gave the selfless nine-year-old the PS4 he’d initially been saving his money for.

Nineteen-year-old Ashton told NBC DFW that they thought Hector deserved a special surprise in reward for his generous donation to others. He added “To see a 9-year-old worrying about so many others, you can’t help but want to give him what he wants.”

When he received the PS4, along with $150 to help his campaign to purchase more smoke detectors, the delighted young boy said that he was really excited to play his first game on his new console with his newfound friends.

Hector now plans to save more money to help those who cannot afford to buy their own safety devices and enjoy his gift from his friends whenever he is allowed to play it.
