TICKER: Can anything stop her? Serena Williams “body slams” her opponent to make US Open final

Right now, there doesn’t appear to be anything that can stop her, hold her back or slow her down.  Serena Williams took down the Italian Sara Errani today to make the finals of the US Open.  Williams was simply phenomenal, winning over her opponent 6-1, 6-2 on her way to what many experts expect to be her next big tournament victory.

Oddly enough, Williams is seeded fourth in this tournament.  She probably won’t have that same seed in the future. She is set to play top-seeded Victoria Azarenka in the finals, set to be held on Saturday. Azarenka took down opponent Maria Sharapova, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, which was a tougher battle than the one that Williams had herself.

Williams’ 119 mph serve was too much for her 5-foot-41/2 inch opponent.  Williams is also expected to dominate again in the finals, having a 9 – 1 advantage over Azarenka in the past.    Even her next opponent admitted that Williams makes her nervous.

“Our record says it all,” Azarenka said. “I need to find something to surprise her [Saturday]. Because she’s in great form, feeling really confident. She has everything on her side.”

Williams hit nine aces and 38 winners, and if she can hold on for one more match, she is going to walk away with her 15th Grand Slam title.

“I think she’s the best,” said Errani. “For me, I think she is incredible. The way she wants to win, when she plays like this, I think she’s the best player in the world.”
