Nicki Minaj was being sarcastic when she rapped about voting for Mitt Romney, POLITICO 44 reports.

In a song released last week, Minaj says, “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy b——s are f—— up the economy.”

After President Obama said he wasn’t sure that Minaj – known for her eccentric lyrics – meant for the verse to be taken literally, the hip-hop star said he was right.

“Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… *sends love & support*@BarackObama,” she tweeted on Monday.

Afterward she wrote, “Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question.”
