TICKER: Kirstie Alley confesses to secret relationship with Patrick Swayze

And in the end, the truth will set you free.

At least, hopefully, for Kirstie Alley, who confessed Monday to having had an affair with former “North and South” costar Patrick Swayze back in the 1980s – when both were in relationships with other people.

“Both of us were married,” the actress told Entertainment Tonight’s host Chris Jacobs of their romantic relationship, clarifying that the two never actually got physical, but had an emotional connection instead.

“But again, I think what we did was worse because I think when you fall in love with someone when you’re married, you jeopardize your own marriage and their marriage. It’s doubly bad.”

The current “Dancing With the Stars” contestant was married to second husband Parker Stevenson at the time, though the two would later divorce in 1997.

Swayze, who passed away in September 2009 from pancreatic cancer, was married to wife Lisa Niemi, who still remains close friends with Alley. Niemi even asked Alley to speak at Swayze’s funeral.

Alley, 61, and the “Ghost” actor met on the set of their 1985 film “North and South,” and the actress admits that there was intense chemistry between them right from the get-go.

“I could feel someone sort of looking at me and at first I didn’t look,” she said of the first time they met during a script reading. “But then I leaned forward and it was Patrick and he had this big smile on his face. And I thought ‘Do NOT go down this road.’”

The pair ended up falling in love, however, and Alley told Jacobs that she isn’t sure to this day if Niemi was aware of their relationship.

Alley has also previously claimed that her “Look Who’s Talking” costar John Travolta was the “greatest love” of her life, and that she wanted to “run off and marry John” while they were filming the 1989 flick together.

For her part, however, Niemi has recently confirmed that she’s begun to date again, three years since Swayze’s death.

She is currently dating jeweler Albert DePrisco, her rep confirmed to People magazine, though they are “taking it slow.”

Niemi and Swayze’s relationship endured the trials and tribulations of Hollywood, and by the time Swayze died, the couple had been married 34 years.
