TICKER: Time Magazine releases workout photos of Paul Ryan, and well… they’re just awful

It was sort of cute to release workout pictures of Mitt Romney’s vice presidential nominee the day of the VP debate, but those pics may not be having the desired effect. If they’re being circulated to make Ryan look fit and tough, then it’s an epic fail.

By now everyone knows that the Wisconsin congressman who wants to turn Medicare into a voucher program stays fit by using the now-best selling P90X workout plan, but did anyone really need to see these pictures? I mean, it really looks like something straight of the 80′s show ‘Saved by the Bell.’  Again, just awful.

It’s also probably not a good idea to bring up Ryan’s fitness since he was caught lying about his marathon time. Ryan initially said  he finished a marathon in “two hours and fifty something” minutes, which would’ve had Ryan running a 7 minute mile the entire race. That was, of course, a lie.  His campaign later confirmed that Ryan had finished in a little over four hours, not the two hours he’d bragged about.

TIME magazine initially took the photos of Ryan flexing for the cameras in 2011 when he was under consideration for Time’s Person of the Year award, but didn’t publish them then.

The release of photos from the Ryan photo shoot have caused a good deal of mocking online. For example, a mock Twitter account named @PaulRyansBicep tweeted a schedule for tonight:  8pm Workout. 9pm Debate. 11pm Workout.

People can’t seem to decide whether Paul Ryan is the cutest thing going or Eddie Munster’s long lost twin. These awful photos should help tip the scales.
