“We are inspired to do even more” – Tara Fela-Durotoye on being selected as Young Global Leader, announces 100 Voices project

Nigerian makeup entrepreneur, Tara Fela-Durotoye was recently named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

The honour was awarded to her based on her professional accomplishments and commitment to society, alongside 198 other professionals from 70 countries.

The CEO of House of Tara, registered makeover outfit, Fela-Durotoye expressed gratitude through a statement released yesterday.

“Our team at House of Tara was excited to receive news of this global recognition,” she said upon receiving the news. “We are very focused on our vision of building a globally respected beauty company that Africans can be proud of whilst building the lives of young women through entrepreneurship around the continent. Previous honourees for Young Global Leader include Group Chief Executive of Oando Plc, Wale Tinubu; Managing Director of MNET Africa, Biola Alabi; Board Member of Clinton Foundation, Chelsea Clinton; US singer and recording artist, William Adams; TV host Funmi Iyanda, and erstwhile Executive Director of FATE Foundation, Osayi Oruene.

A lawyer and mother of three, Fela-Durotoye is the founder and creative director of House of Tara International (H.O.T). She also runs the international standard makeup studio, and established the first makeup school in Nigeria.

According to the statement, Fela-Durotoye is currently working on the national project 100 Voices, aimed at creating a platform to share the stories of women to help develop the nation. The inspiring stories of 100 H.O.T beauty representatives will also be amplified and shared as symbols of the possibilities of empowerment through H.O.T. She is also currently working on her book: ‘How to Turn Your Hobby into a Thriving Business’.
