Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility for the June 25 bombing in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and the attack at a fuel depot in Lagos.

This piece of information was made public in a new video seen by AFP Sunday.

The Lagos State Government had referred to the incident as a petrol tanker explosion but AFP investigations has revealed it may have been a premeditated attack.

“I ordered (the bomber) who went and detonated it,” Abubakar Shekau says of the Lagos bomb, while claiming responsibility for the “bomb in filthy Abuja” that killed at least 22 people.

The Boko Haram sect has declared a religious war on the government of Nigeria killing thousands of people in separate attacks since 2009.

Over 200 schoolgirls from Chibok are still being kept captive by the group whose name loosely translates to “No to Western education”.
