golden eagletsAhead of the Golden Eaglets 2015 African U-17 Championship qualifying fixture against the Junior Leopards of Congo Democratic Republic, the team’s head coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has said they will be going for nothing but victory.

The team, which arrived in Kinshasa, on Thursday night, will face their Congolese counterparts in the first leg of a second round fixture today, July 26.

Amuneke who spoke to journalists at the Tata Raphael Stadium, after the team’s final training session on Friday ahead of the match fixed for 3:30pm (Nigerian time), said that his they were there to win.

“We are here to win and it is as simple as that but we know that the game would not be as simple as that. We have constantly told the boys that all what we had done in the past are now in the past and the moment of serious business is here for us.”

The team has so far been unbeaten in 21 matches during regulation time, their only loss was to Benin republic – penalty shoot-out at the WAFU B Tournament in Togo.

He stated that the only difference between today’s match and the ones the team had played in the past was just the circumstance, as this is one of the qualifiers for Niger.

“It is important for us to win irrespective of what Congo would throw at us because we know Kinshasa is a difficult place to win matches.
