DEVELOPING: Qatar Airways plane in distress, set to land in Lagos

by Hauwa Gambo

We can confirm news of a Qatar Airways plane in distress reportedly due to a burst tire mid-air. Official sources are calling it a “landing gear problem”. It is preparing to land at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

The airplane is Flight No. QR592. It is an Airbus from Doha to Lagos, landing around 1 pm local time.

The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) and other emergency services are on standby and we will continue to update you.

This unfolding scenario is a sad reminder of the Dana Airlines tragedy which killed all 153 passengers on-board the ill-fated airline earlier in the year on the outskirts of Lagos.
