#InCaseYouMissedIt: Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler leave American Idol

by Isi Esene

Jennifer Lopez called in to Ryan Seacrest this morning, to tell the world she’s leaving American Idol as a judge.

She said: “I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do.”

The 42-year-old seemed reluctant to officially make the announcement but she told Ryan that her time on the show was up. She said it would be hard for her to go but it’s just one of those things in your life that you have to walk away from.

Lopez is making the announcement just a day after Steven Tyler also called it quits with the show saying he wants to return to his first love which is the band Aerosmith. Randy Jackson, the oldest serving and head judge of the show’s panel is also rumoured to be leaving the show soon, a move which is expected to pave the way for a new set of judges.

It is not clear what informed this mass exodus of judges. This now leaves Ryan Seacrest as the last man standing.

As he is wont to do, Tyler wrote in his statement: “After some long… hard… thoughts… I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit,’ TMZ reports.

The 64-year-old said he’s going back to his first love Aerosmith “with two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band”.

If Randy leaves as it’s been widely speculated, all eyes will be on Ryan Seacrest to know what his next move will be.

  1. Jennifer, I think you're going to regret this spraeation/divorce thing. It will affect your kids for the rest of their lives. I divorced when my son was 3, and I regret it. He had an affair one weekend, which I didn't know at the time. I could forgive once, but instead my son and I left. I doubt you'll find a man that loves you like Marc does. Maybe you should trust God to lead you through Marc. If he doesn't want you in the scientology church, then don't go. If he doesn't want you wearing plunging necklines, then don't wear them. I think he's looking out for your best interest. I think you should try to be together again, maybe go to a different counselor. He seems very affectionate toward you in the photos I've seen. I'm praying for God's will in your lives. I hope you reconsider and continue to work at your marriage. You can make it work. God bless.
