More suspects have been arrested for the attack on the Deeper Life Bible Church which happened in Okene recently. The attack which took twenty lives, was initially suspected to be executed by the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram, but the Kogi State police commissioner refuted the claims saying the act was politically motivated.

It was recently reported that two politicans, one an aide to the state governor, were arrested by the police in connection to the said attack.

Reports say the men of the state police command have consistently conducted an house-to-house search which has led to the arrest of more individuals suspected to be linked with the attack.

Security sources say guns belonging to the two soldiers that were killed by gunmen in Okene some weeks ago were also recovered. All the suspects that were arrested have been taken to Abuja for further interrogation.

Mr. Simon Ile, the spokesman of the Kogi State police command could not confirm the development saying he was on official assignment out of the state. Attempts to contact the state commissioner of police also proved abortive.

Meanwhile the speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Bello Abdullahi has commended the efforts of the state government at combating crime and securing the lives and properties of citizens.

He called on politicians from the Kogi Central Senatorial District to join hands in supporting Governor Idris Wada in achieving his objective of maintaining security in the state.
