The season one of Nigeria’s Got Talent (NGT) has seen months of amazing talent display, stage craft and youthful athleticism.

The Airtel-sponsored reality show finally comes to an end this weekend in Lagos with ten finalists on stage in what will be the last opportunity for each act to impress the viewing public and upstage one another for the N10 million naira cash prize.

20 years-old rapper, Chukka, set the tone for the day with a display characterised by a flow of rhythm, rhyme and skills.

Dancer extraordinaire, Boniface was another top quality performer on the night. With an athletic body, he seamlessly worked the stage to the tune of Dare Art Alade’s “You are not the girl”.

Violinist Godwin Ogechukwu carried on to the finals with his mastery of the musical instrument and to produce excitement and entertainment. He was the one to watch at the semi-finals a few weeks ago, thus raising the bar for himself in the finals.

Crowd favourite, eight years old dancer, Amarachi Uyanne, was electrifying on stage as she surprised the audience with a violin, an instrument she played pretty well, earning herself a standing ovation.

DJ Nath, beatbox artiste picked up from where he stopped in the semi-finals as he invented different entertaining notes to place himself as one of the completion’s favourite.

The only surviving dance group on the show, The Expendable, snapped a spot in the finals but a miscalculated display may mar their chances to emerge nation’s most talented act.

For ventriloquist, comedian and puppeteer, Dr. Bariyu, it was an off day as he failed to re-enact the quality of act that eventually secured him a place in the finals.

Other performers on the night whose showings were below expectation include Impulse, the acappella group from Port Harcourt, Jesse and Oghomene.

Olu Akanmu, Chief Marketing Officer, Airtel Nigeria, spoke on the finals: “This debut season has been quite an eventful one for all of us. We remain focused on creating a future of great possibilities for the Nigerian youth. This Sunday, the most talented Nigerian duly chosen by Nigerians will emerge from what has been the most exciting reality show in the history of the country. For the winner, it will be a dream-come-true, and for us at Airtel, it will be the beginning of the journey to greater excellence.”
