“The course of true love never did run smooth,” Shakespeare wrote in his play A Midsummer Nights Dream. After four years of marriage, musician-turned-pastor Chris Okotie announced the end of his marriage to Stephanie Henshaw almost four years to their wedding day.
The pastor at the Household of God Church, Oregun, Lagos shocked his congregation by making the announcement during his birthday celebration at the church.
He said, “Stephanie and I are no longer married. We have separated. You can see she’s not in church today. It’s due to irreconcilable differences and you should please respect our wishes at this time because there is no going back.”
The relationship started on a controversial note back in 2008 when the pastor made several cases why his then fiancee, who was divorced with three children, was still considered “never been married.”
