There are indications that the retired Primate of the Anglican Church , Peter Jasper Akinola has been kidnapped.

Akinola, one of the most revered Christian leaders in recent times was said to have been abducted by gunmen alongside his driver in Ogun State.

The circumstances surrounding his kidnap is yet unclear but the incident has reportedly been confirmed by officials of the Ogun State Police Command.

Archbishop Akinola, 69, was born in Abeokuta and was  Anglican Primate of the Church of Nigeria. He was also Bishop of Abuja and Archbishop of Province III, which covered the northern and central parts of the country.
