Bruised ego: Obasanjo declines taking part in laying of wreath

by Akan Ido

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration was temporarily put on hold in Abeokuta, Ogun State yesterday when former president Olusegun Obasanjo reportedly refused to take part in the laying of wreath ceremony.

Reports say all efforts by governor Ibikunle Amosun to persuade Obasanjo to be part of the dignitaries set to lay wreath at the arcade was rebuffed by the former president.

Others including the deputy governor, Segun Adesegun and the Iyalode of Egbaland, Alaba Lawson, unsuccessfully begged him to do so.

Sources say Obasanjo refused to take part because he was not initially listed as one of the dignitaries to perform the function at the occasion.

Do we see a war brewing between Obasanjo and Amosun over this oversight? We will wait and see.

  1. @ Tony Adegoke, you are right. That is how the ACN govts operate. They are so shallow that they do not see the need to do things properly. They would have preferred to invite the Oba of Lagos to come and lay the wreathe and forget there were other parties in govt b4 them. I shudder at the thought of ACN operating on a Federal level or in more States.

  2. I have never see such a coward as obasanjo

  3. OBJ is just a cynic always seeking attention. Is he the only past Nigerian leader that is living in this country? Why is he so much betraying his old self?

    1. U must be funny and uninformed by ur statement, what is cynical about a state not knowing what protocol is or AC govts always messing with elderstatemen who do not belong to their party

  4. Baba did the right tik

  5. Would u forget to take ur father to a function were fathers are to be exibited?! Dis insult should stop, a function dat has to do with arm forces, u have a Gen and ex head of state and ex president and u call dis oversight haba!
