Former minister, Shettima Ali Monguno kidnapped in Maiduguri

Former Petroleum Minister, Shettima Ali Monguno has been abducted in the Northern city of Maiduguri.

Monguno, 87, a politician of note and an educationist was kidnapped today at Mafoni Ward where he went for the Juma’at prayer.

The abducted elder statesman was one of the Borno elders who met with President Goodluck Jonathan during his visit to the state on the issue of granting amnesty to Boko Haram Militants.

He is a vocal commentator against the activities of the men of the joint military task force (JTF) in the state.

Maiduguri, the Borno state capital has been a hotbed of violence attributed to the activities of the Boko Haram Islamic sect which has seen many people killed and others internally displaced.
