From the Magazine: Music Review – For Tiwa Savage, it’s love, actually

by  Wilfred Okiche

Title: Love Me, Love Me

Artiste: Tiwa Savage

Director: Sesan

Just when you entertained the thought of tagging her ‘one hit wonder’ and moving on, the overwhelmingly sexy Tiwa Savage follows up the smashing success of Kele Kele Love with Love Me, Love Me.

The video for this sweet-as-syrup confection was directed by Mo’ Hits’ Sesan, the brain behind the uber successful videos of D’Banj and his posse. But of course you first have to put grey matter on pause to enjoy it.

Sesan is the king of eye candy and he finds in Tiwa a willing collaborator. They are soul mates united in a common purpose – to flirt with us, tease us, titillate, and maybe even shock as they assault our sensibilities with various shots of Tiwa in different stages of undress.

There is Tiwa in bed with a lover, Tiwa in the unbuttoned fur coat, Tiwa making goo-goo eyes at the camera, Tiwa rocking those bum shots and (sigh) those, let’s call it what it is, thighs. We want!

If the plan is to tease us into falling in love with Tiwa, we already are. She had us at Kele.

Back to the video; yeah it’s okay. Slick actually. The picture, light and sound quality are all good stuff. Still, one can’t help the sneaking feeling that Ms. Savage is, maybe, selling herself short.

This is almost certain to titillate us for a while and then go the same forgettable way of most of Sesan’s videos. Who cares, right? Right now, it is playing on a loop to a wildly receptive audience who can’t get enough, and maybe that is all that matters – to Tiwa.
