Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday had a meeting with the governors who crossed over to join them from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

The meeting is said to have held at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in the Asokoro area of Abuja and it was aimed at fine-tuning the details of the governors’ defection.

Also in attendance at the meeting was the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mallam Waziri Tambuwal.

Nigerian Eye reports:

The governors, who left the PDP for the APC are Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers); Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara); Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto); Murtala Nyako (Adamawa); and Rabiu Kwakwanso (Kano).

At the meeting were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mallam Waziri Tambuwal; a former Head of State, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.); a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Kwakwanso and Amaechi, Governor Babatunde Fashola and Kayode Fayemi of Lagos and Ekiti states respectively also attended the meeting.

But Tambuwal was said to have left before the end of the meeting.

However, sources close to the meeting said details of the merger agreement with the affected governors were discussed.

It was said that the details were not ready as at the time when the governors announced their defection to the opposition party in Abuja last week.

A former Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, who read the communique of the meeting where the governors defected, said the decision to join the APC was unanimous.
