Reports say seven construction workers of different nationalities were kidnapped in Bauchi earlier on Sunday.

Among the abducted were four Lebanese, Briton, Italian, and a Greek working for the construction firm, Setraco.

Gunmen reportedly attacked the workers’ camp in Jamaare, Bauchi where they killed a security guard to gain entry.

An official of the Italian Embassy has confirmed that an Italian national has abducted but there has been no official confirmation from the UK Foreign office concerning the incident.

Mohammed Ladan, the Bauchi police commissioner revealed that the unknown gunmen had earlier targeted a prison and police station in the rural town of Jamaare, some 200km north of the state capital, Bauchi before moving to the Setraco camp.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
