A woman in Delta has lost her life after a mob of angry youths set her on fire after branding her a witch.

The woman, identified simply as Mama Philo, was said to have been responsible for the barrenness of many women in the community.

The incident occurred in the Abala community near the Asaba area of the state and the victim was said to have confessed before she was set ablaze.

A member of the community, one Moses Emekwu said:

“We set fire on her because she confessed to being a witch and being responsible for some women’s barrenness. We cannot allow evil in this community hence, we set fire on her.”

The jungle justice trend has become very popular in Nigeria but states like Lagos have begun to make moves to combat the scourge.
