MUSIC VIDEOS are in a separate genre in the motion picture industry. A video is allowed the flexibility to express a different point of view from that expressed in the music it is supposed to be promoting. This in turn gives a lot of room for creativity in expression and execution. But eLDee’s video for One Day is as simple and straightforward as it gets.

eLDee The Don has been around for a minute. And in that minute, he has done quite well for himself and has a number of videos under his belt. They include Trybesmen’s Plenty Nonsense, 2Shotz’s Carry Am Go, Sasha’s Emi Le Gan and 3his own I Go Yarn and Champion. So he is in a familiar terrain when he decides to direct perhaps the most important video in his career.

As a visual tool, the video for One Day does what it is supposed to do. The song for the said video speaks of hope for a better future for Nigeria; a Nigeria where everything works the way it’s supposed to. But that’s then. At the present time, roads are in our potholes, power is being held and our leaders have become boxers.

The supporting cast is quite impressive. The cameos are well executed, and all guests look like they are well aware of their responsibilities. Banky W, MI, Dr. Sid, Lami and DJ Tee were some of the talent on hand to lend their names to the effort. All looked sufficiently unhappy. Were the ruling class watching, they might realise that the wind of change is slowly gathering momentum.
