Nokia has shown its intention to take the phone competition right down to the wire with the introduction of its Uber-sleek top-of-the-range device, the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone.

The must-have gadget was unveiled to the media yesterday at a breakfast meeting organised by the company at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Nokia 808 PureView device which has won many awards outside the country for its unparalleled performance, comes with a 41 mega-pixel camera which is unrivalled in the smartphone market.

This much was confirmed by Kelechi Amadi-Obi, an icon in the photography profession, who gave the audience a run down of the device’s capabilities which he referred to as a “breakthrough in photography” and the “next frontier” in the world of smartphone devices.

The general manager of Nokia, West Africa, Mr. Chris Brown described the Nokia 808 as a wonderful device. He said the Nokia line of products have come a long way since it started its camera phone range ten years ago. He revealed that over five years of work has been put into making the device a world-beater and he’s excited by its launch in Nigeria.

In his presentation, Mr. Olumide Balogun, the Nokia services manager, explained the importance of the new product saying, “It is a device that is unparalleled in the history of phone devices. It is a device produced with everyone in mind.”

He continued, “With a 41 mega-pixel camera, the Nokia 808 PureView does 16 times what a normal phone camera will do and it has the best camera phone optics ever.”

The event was wrapped-up with a raffle-draw which afforded lucky members of the audience an opportunity to own the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone device.

With the arrival of the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone on a dedicated Symbian software, other smartphones in the Nigerian market need to watch out for stiff competition.

  1. Nokia N8 is no doubt the king of camera phone. for three years Nokia waited for someone to steal that crown from N8, but no brand could do it. now Nokia has decided to steal it them-self. 808 is now the king.
