Former Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Cooperative in Oyo State, Kazeem Adedeji and his wife, Biodun were arrested on Thursday in connection with fraud.

The Special Anti-Fraud Unit in Lagos picked up the couple in Ibadan from the Enterprise Bank in Agodi.

According to reports, the bank manager tried to resist the police officials when they arrived the bank claiming there was no warrant for the arrest but the police went on to take the couple away first to Iyaganku police station in Ibadan and then to Lagos around 1.30pm.

Adedeji’s associates speaking to reporters said the ex-commissioner was at the bank earlier in the day to visit his wife.

“As soon as he (the husband) left, the wife put across a distress call, informing him that a team of police officers were about to whisk her away from her desk.”

“Honourable had to make a detour to know what was really the matter. On getting to the scene, the police team told him they were sent to Ibadan to effect the arrest of the two of them,” he said.
