TICKER: Finally: Alicia Keys breaks her silence on being a home wrecker

Superstar songstress Alicia Keys is finally breaking her silence in the latest issue of Jet Magazine, about her relationship with her hubby, Swizz Beatz. When the news broke that she was dating Swizz, her reputation became a bit tarnished, as people started to speculate that she was dating a married man. Swizz, at the time, was married to R&B singer and reality star MaShonda( Love and Hip-Hop). Before their wedded bliss, Keys experienced serious backlash from MaShonda, who made it known to the public ,through an open letter, on twitter that she was not at all amused by Keys measures to break up a marriage.

What seemed like wedded bliss to Keys was a nightmare for Swizz’s ex-wife. In the open letter MaShonda says “I feel that after [one] and a half years of you hiding this affair and acting like it [doesn’t] exist, that now is the time to confront it, since you talk so openly about it now… You have no idea how much pain I was caused because of this affair.” “If you are reading this Alicia, let me start by saying, you know what you did. You know the role you played and you know how you contributed to the ending of my marriage. You know that I asked you to step back and let me handle my family issues. Issues that you helped to create… As a woman, I expected so much more from you. I never had intentions on reaching out to you this way but after reading your twits tonight, and the constant disregard, you left me no choice.”

Keys clears the air in Jet by saying,  “[They] were apart for some time before we ever got together…that doesn’t matter to those who take pleasure in trying to knock others down…there’s no need to fight what’s not true,” Keys and Swizz wedded in the summer of July 2010, at a private home in the Mediterranean Sea, while she was pregnant with their son Egypt.

Currently, Keys is set to launch her new album, Girl on Fire, on November 27th. And is doing her part of giving back to the victims of Hurricane Sandy, by lending her chops to the star studded benefit concert, taking place on December 12, 2012.
